MATT VANCE spent 12 years teaching in higher education, primarily as Director of Jazz Studies and Professor of Music at Florida State College at Jacksonville. During his educational tenure, Matt taught the following:

While at FSCJ, Matt produced two albums featuring his jazz ensembles and jazz combos: Jazz from 11901 Beach Boulevard and Jazz Ensembles 2005. Recorded and released in 2000, Jazz from 11901 Beach Boulevard was recognized nationally and garnered an invitation to perform at the 2003 International Association for Jazz Education Conference in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.
In addition to his tenure at FSCJ, Matt has served on the adjunct faculties of Jacksonville University, the University of North Florida, and the jazz faculty of Appalachian State University’s Cannon Music Camp.
Matt has judged middle and high school jazz ensembles and Solo & Ensemble at the state and regional levels and was selected to direct the 2005 Florida High School All-State Jazz Ensemble at the Florida Music Educators Association Conference in Tampa.
Since 2001, Matt has served as Visiting Guest Artist and Co-Artistic Director of Jazz: America’s Music at Southwest Virginia Community College in Richlands, Virginia. The program’s mission is to provide educational concerts and clinics featuring the original United States music genre for under-served school districts in rural southwest Virginia.
Matt also presents clinics and lectures, in-person and on-line, in Music Business and Industry. Topics include marketing, supply chain, research & development, product testing and training, and international production and manufacturing.
